The World Economic Forum 2025 is about to begin. Once again, Davos, Switzerland, will take centre stage. Leaders from politics, business, and science will gather to tackle key challenges under the theme “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age.”
Looking at the participant list, we see attendees from across the globe. But is it truly global?
Countries like the USA and closely aligned nations dominate the stage. Much like the MSCI World Index, where US companies hold over 2/3 of the weight, Western voices overshadow others. Regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Pacific have fewer representatives. The balance feels unequal.
This matters because diversity drives better outcomes. In investing, diversification isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a proven strategy for success. Independent wealth managers know this. Like proper diversification, true collaboration happens only when all voices are included.
The WEF 2025 has a chance to go further. It can create honest, global discussions. But this means actively inviting and empowering perspectives that are often ignored. It’s a big opportunity. Let’s hope Davos takes the lead.
I wish all participants inspiring conversations. To Switzerland: Enjoy the spotlight as Davos hosts this key event. Let’s hope it brings more than just the usual perspectives to the stage.
Only through true inclusivity can we effectively address the world’s challenges. Go for it WEF 2025!
