Living in a one-sided information bubble can have serious consequences. People may only receive intentionally disseminated information about beliefs or ideologies while disregarding, ignoring or rejecting any statement that contradicts them.

Individuals living in such a bubble may suffer from cognitive dissonance when their formed beliefs clash with the newly presented information, causing psychological discomfort. They may also feel let down by those providing the information they trusted, resulting in anger and disillusionment.

Politicians, employers and traditional media outlets who create this type of information bubble also risk severe consequences. If their followers become aware that they have been misled, they may lose trust in them and their agenda, leading to a decline in support, lower voter turnout, and a decrease in popularity.

In extreme cases, living in a one-sided information bubble can have dangerous consequences, potentially leading to extremist and violent behaviour. Individuals must seek diverse and accurate sources of information to avoid falling into a propaganda bubble and for those in positions of power to be held accountable for the information they disseminate.

Let’s all strive to remain open-minded and expose ourselves to various sources of information. In some instances, social media has to be part of it, especially if they have been national security risk awarded. In other cases, it is a genuine open architecture investment product platform by joining an independent wealth management firm.

This way, we can avoid falling into information bubbles and promote a healthy discourse on essential topics.
