Like most things, train tickets are rather expensive in Switzerland. However, if you know beforehand when and where you want to go you can save up to 70%. So we paid for a single trip to Lugano instead of CHF 57 only 20.

How? Check the connections for your route on your travel day. If supersaver tickets are available for your connection, a percentage sign is displayed. Click on the connection. On the next screen, you will see first the standard price and the supersaver ticket price. Purchase the desired ticket. Please note that you need to have an account is set up, credit-card and an e-mail address.

Important: Supersaver tickets are only valid on the chosen connection and are not available at ticket counters or ticket machines.

Pros: great saving, equal treatment
Cons: only valid for chosen connection, the earlier you book the better
