Tschlin, a village in the Lower Engadine near Scuol, has for us one of the best marketing strategies. For a non-native, it seems as if all goods appear under one brand, no matter if beer, cheese or other specialities.

Apart from the Tschliner beer, we find the Tschliner beer fondue “Che Fondue da Biera” worth a blog entry. This fondue is a fresh ready mix from local alp cheese and 1/3 sheep’s milk and is much easier to digest than the traditional fondue with white wine.

As a result, preparing it couldn’t be easier – heat the ready-mix slowly while stirring it consistently and you’re ready to go. As a caquelon (cooking vessel) we recommend Le Creuset, which has an excellent easily removable crust.

Winter cannot be more exciting.
