{"id":19518,"date":"2026-11-03T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-11-03T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/?p=19518"},"modified":"2026-11-03T21:15:48","modified_gmt":"2026-11-03T20:15:48","slug":"website-question-ai-wealth-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/de\/website-question-ai-wealth-management\/","title":{"rendered":"Die Website-Frage, zwanzig Jahre sp\u00e4ter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the website question of the late 1990s has a familiar echo, as artificial intelligence moves from experiment to everyday tool in wealth management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I cannot remember the day I stopped using AltaVista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was no moment. One year it was how <a href=\"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/de\/unabhangiger-vermogensverwalter-zurich\/\">everyone searched<\/a>, and then, quietly, it wasn&#8217;t. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AltaVista\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AltaVista<\/a> filed for an IPO in December 1999. It was withdrawn for good in January 2001, and the company never listed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Website Question in the Boardroom<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I remember a smaller argument more clearly than the crash. Whether a company actually needed a website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intelligent people debated it seriously in boardrooms. Clients came by referral. Business was done <a href=\"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/de\/muttersprache-privatbankwesen\/\">face to face<\/a>. A website looked like something for retailers, not for a relationship-based firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody in those rooms was wrong about the technology. They were wrong about whether it applied to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-same-question-now-about-artificial-intelligence\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Same Question, Now About Artificial Intelligence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the question in front of us again. Not whether <a href=\"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/de\/ki-strategie-fur-die-vermogensverwaltung\/\">k\u00fcnstliche Intelligenz<\/a> is real \u2014 that debate is settled. For an <a href=\"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/de\/was-ein-unabhangiger-vermogensverwalter-hinzufugt\/\">unabh\u00e4ngiger Verm\u00f6gensverwalter<\/a>, it is narrower and far less comfortable: what does it change about how we actually work, and what does it leave untouched?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The honest answer is that I am still working it out. Three things guide how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The thesis is not the vehicle. Agreeing with a technology is not agreeing with a position \u2014 in a portfolio or in a business plan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start with the task, not the tool. Every useful decision we have made began with a <a href=\"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/de\/ki-co-working-mit-offener-architektur\/\">piece of work we disliked doing<\/a>, never with a product demonstration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decide what you would not change under any circumstances. Our list is short, and it&#8217;s all about judgement and being present <a href=\"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/de\/anpassungsfahigkeit-im-vermogensmanagement\/\">when markets turn ugly<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the Website Question Still Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Companies that waited on a website didn&#8217;t fail because of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They spent the following years catching up on a <a href=\"https:\/\/vapa.ch\/de\/unabhangiger-vermogensverwalter-in-der-schweiz-claude\/\">conversation that had already moved on<\/a> without them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Am I the only one with a sense of d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu?<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the website question of the late 1990s has a familiar echo, as artificial intelligence moves from experiment to everyday tool in wealth management.
